Briefing

We were asked to design an editorial magazine with the ability to grow over time, which required developing an original concept and publishing identity. This led us to choose a subject matter that was unconventional yet universally relatable, allowing for in-depth analysis and sparking creative approaches.

Proposta

Specimen, editorial dedicated to exploring and reinterpreting everyday objects. Inspired by the scientific notion of a specimen as a representative sample taken for study, the collection follows a format in which each volume dissects a single object, from technical sheet to historical evolution, culminating in artistic contributions that reimagine it.
The second volume focuses on the coat hanger.

Aportació

A platform for invited artists and designers to share diverse perspectives while exploring ordinary objects as sources of meaning and inspiration.

Producció

The publication uses two types of paper to distinguish the object’s historical analysis from its reinterpretation, reinforcing the editorial line’s structure. The binding incorporates a real coat hanger, which adds functional value and creates a trompe-l’oeil cover.
Each volume transforms the conventional role of reading material by integrating its featured object and function.
